Summary

The history of Singapore is closely tied to our waterways. Its primary reason for its existence and prominence was its geographical location; at the crossroads of the China-India and Asia-Europe trading routes.

Singapore has evolved from a third world country to a first world one within two decades. Much of the urban development is designed and planned to allow for sustained growth for commerce, communities and recreation.

Kick scooter with me as I give an alternative perspective of how these changes have impacted the communities and how new developments will bring about regeneration of certain districts. Learn also about our dependence and adaptation to limited water resources, and, the management of our waterways.

Highlights

The founding of Singapore. The growth of Singapore City and its challenges. The national performance centre- Esplanade Theatres by the Bay. Marina Bay Sands and introducing casinos to Singapore. Gardens by the Bay. Marina Barrage, Waterways and Water conservation. Urban renewal & land reclamation
